The New European Jazz Collective doesn’t do big band the traditional way. It has a thing for pop music with an edge, and is not afraid to arrange it, make it sound good and play it for you live. Based in that wonderful, vibrant city Berlin, the band members fly in from all over Europe to bring their wonderful individual sounds together and create something that’s bigger than the sum of their numbers.
As band leader and arranger Rob Spelberg points out: “The modern big band has an incredible pallet of colours, and those colours extend way beyond what people expect a big band to sound, especially if you have such great players at your disposal.”
So check out the band, your ears deserve a treat every now and then.
